Olmec Heads: "Spiritualized" (NEO)
Wow. How amazing is this? Got it a few days ago and did not know what it was until I played it and it took me back to Homelands at the weekend when Paul Oakenfold played it. In fact this is so good I've just gone out to buy a second copy just in case !!!!!
This tune just gives you a HUGE rush when the breakdown comes in. It’s a pity is not a little louder and elaborated as there is only one break. They could re-do it like Carte Blanche with a mini re-break at the end. Nevertheless, buy it now before they run out.
Steve Morley: "Reincarnations" (NEO)
This is good. Pure hard driving bass line with an all clashing and banging Euro sound to it. This is going to be massive. I've never heard of this guy before but the label is brilliant and is getting a reputation. This is one that might just send shivers up your spine !!! Will get you dancing any day.
Mauro Picotto: "Lizard" (VC)
Another already classic club track. Already being remixed by Tall Paul. I don't think you can beat the original. Its really basic and just pure banging beat all the way through only to pause for the anthem like breakdown and quickly return straight into the banging bit. Tall Paul's version has a bit more bounce to it but no "anthem breakdown" which is a pity.
Chicane: "Saltwater" Tomski vs Disco Citizens Mix (Xtravaganza)
Ibiza tune most definitely. This is another great Chicane tune. Just like all the others but yet so different. It really gets to your soul and there is loads of chanting and harmony in it. Just what you want to hear when you are lying on a hot sunny beach !! I wish !!
Agenda: "Heaven" Lange Remix (INC Traxx)
This has been played by Jules for a while now. Did not know what it was till I got it. Its another one that delves deep into your soul and makes you go all funny !!!! The other mixes by Sakin etc are ok but the Lange one is the best.
DJ Jean: "The Launch" DJ Disco Mix (Urban)
As Pete Tong said this is a bit cheezy but nevertheless a real crowdpleaser and does get you going. Its got that catchy thing about it that makeyou want to move and go mental. The flip side is a bit pants and too European sounding.
Paul Van Dyk: "For an Angel" (Deviant)
By no means is this at the bottom of this week's chart EVER!!! It's just a great piece of music. In fact one of the best written I have ever heard. It took me 2 months to find out what it was when I first heard it at "Creamfields" last year and I heard it again at "Homelands" this year, played by the man himself as I walked into his tent. What a genius !!!!!
I don't want to say much about this because we all know how great it is.
